Hi Rick,You wrote: So, if Mr. Davenport is agreeable, he could come up with the number of subscribers needed to get this going at a reasonable price. Would twenty of us willing to pre-pay $300.00 for the module do it? I have no real idea, these numbers are just an illustration. But if he could come up with some kind of scenario (like this) and enough of us are willing to "put our money where our mouth is" it might make it easier to get him interested in doing the work.
You got my attention :-))
As to a specific amount I would have to give it some thought but I think that kind of partnership is a great idea. My thinking right now IF we were to pursue this is to have a three-phase activity. During the first phase we as a group would determine what functions and features we wanted. During the second phase I would size the cost of the development and set a price. Functions and features during the second phase would be open to change. There would be no commitment on anyone's part for these first two phases. Before the start of the third phase some number of people would have to pre-pay some amount of money. I would determine the amount and number of people as part of my work for the second phase. The third phase would be the actual development. Functions and features would be unlikely to change during this phase.
What do you all think of this idea? Realize that this is still a fantasy, so don't assume it is happening and start posting what you want.

PS, Mr. Davenport died many years ago and left only "Dave." :-))
