Great! I am glad that you are enjoying your RAKK dac.When I break in a new LL1674 I set up the CD player to cycle and run music through it 24/7. Break in is not an all-or-none thing, rather the transformer will sound better and better as time goes on. Your biggest change will be in the first 8-to-ten hours. Then you should see continued improvement for the next 100-to-200 hours. After that although things continue to improve it is not as noticeable. So, listen to it and enjoy the music whenever you can and leave the music on when you aren't there for a while.
Battery power is on my list of things to try but I haven't done so yet.

I assume that output from that kit would feed the RCA input to the RAKK dac. If so, the 5V level is fine.
