I could not wait until I get a cd player with coax dig output or use my torx173. So I wired up 1 cat5 tp and wrapped it all up in some 3m shielding copper soldered it to rca plug on one side ...to bnc on the other..
Went over to my brother and used his JVC DVD player as transport. No sound...just crackling...until I touched the dvd player! Or the outside of say the bnc connector?
A simple earthing problem ? Or sp/dif cable mistake...the shielding was not earthed on either side?
Can not comment on the sound yet as the rest of his system is home cinama in a box.
But am glad it works. :-)
