Re: More questions and info:

Hi Kevin, now I'm confused. I thought the idea of a step up transformer was to take a low output cartridge and step it up so that it could be plugged into a phono preamp, usually built to be used with magnetic cartridges, having a fixed input of 47k. So are you telling me that I should be showing an input of 30 ohms after the step up transformer? My Lancelot Pro allows me to change resistors in the MC stage for the correct load input, it is socketed. Seeing as I am not clear, could you supply the correct value resistors, when I order?
To give you an idea of the difference between my dac and phono preamp,
some LPs just some don't have much
oomph and when I turn the volume up that far on my tube preamp, it gets
noisy. At normal volume, the preamp is very quiet. To give you an idea
of the volumes, with CD I set the knob between 8-10 o'clock for
enjoyable listening. With phono, I am at 10 -12, for most, but need to
get up around 2, for some. From about 1 o'clock up, my preamp gets
noisy.
Does this info help?
Jeff
