Re: RAKK

Don't remember when it was. I would think I would have been sometime after Audio Alchemy came out with it, since it was a hot topic at the time. I've been in the market for a transport that outputs I2S to avoid having to modify the transport.

Also, several outboard jitter reduction devices included I2S outputs, which is key, because removing jitter in a jitter reduction box and sending it back out on the jitter-prone S/PDIF is a waste. But ideally, it would be nice not to have to rely on an outboard device to reduce jitter. One more box in the crowded rack.

The Assemblage DACs apparently did a really good job of reducing jitter-so much so that one reviewer couldn't hear the difference between S/PDIF and I2S. Maybe the state of the art is getting so much better that an outboard anti-jitter device is no longer needed. I really up to speed yet on what's happening there in the last couple of years. Since the I2S interface seems to be falling into oblivion with the loss of Audio Alchemy and Sonic Frontiers, maybe that's the case.

Strange, though, since it seems simpler, less cable sensitive, less inherent jitter, and the transport and DAC can share the same hopefully excellent clock.

Is there any way you can make it an optional input ala the Assemblage DACs?
