The difference between the 300B and KT88 P-P amps is one of resolution vs. guts. The 300B amps reveal more inner detail, ambience and nuance, but just don't have the hard-driving impact that the triode-connected KT-88 amps do. Now I wouldn't say that the 300B amps are gutless -- far from it, but they just don't excel in that area like the KT-88 amps do. Personally I prefer the 300B amps, but your taste may dictate otherwise.Well, I never compared it directly to any commercial products, but I haven't heard any other amp over time in my system that I preferred over the parallel KT88 amp other than the 300B amp and the KR32B amp I use now. The owner of the parallel KT-88 amp, Joe Rosovitz, may want to chime in here, if he sees this.
