Unequal Gain on LL9206?

Hello,
Is it possible to have unequal gain using the 9206 as MC step-up? The reason why I'm asking this is that, the sound coming out of my speakers when using my TT is "stronger" on the right side. When I switch the interconnects coming out from the TT (arm), the sound will shift to the left speaker hence I narrowed it down to the step-up. If I will not use the step-up, although weaker, the sound coming out are balance left and right. I followed the wiring diagram of the step-up religiusly and hence I cannot understand why this is happening. Thanks for the input.
