I have compared the 1681 and 9206

152.163.188.5

I have already listened at length to them connected up to my new phono preamp (see the webpage for the kit). I would say that it is a matter of preference. Generalizations such as I am about to write always make me a bit uncomfortable, but... The LL1681 is a rock music guy's kind of transformer. It accentuates the primary event for every note and diminshes the aftermath, compared to the LL9206. The LL9206 is more spacious sounding and delivers more of the delicate reverb trails and little microdynamics, but lacks the boldness of the LL1681. Electric guitar is emotionally electric with the LL1681. The delicate nuamce in a chamber music performance is wonderful to behold with the LL9206.

I hope that this helps.

Kevin
