I don't have experience with your exact set-up, but I have been through the process of modifying a Black Cube extensively, so I know what it sounds like in my system. The MC step-up kit will work great with the Black Cube. How much gain you wire the step-up with (it is solder selectable only; switch selection could be improvised, but there would be lots of switch contacts to wire up and listen through)is really a matter of your total system gain structure and where you set the gain jumper in the Black Cube. For the "average" set-up (whatever that means!) I would connect the Black Cube for 45(?)dB of gain and set the MC step-up gain to 20dB (x10). This results in good noise performance and seems appropriate for a 0.3mV cartridge and a line stage of moderate to high gain.Kevin
