Hi All,
I am too often facing volume limitations when coupling high-output MC cartridges with preamps that have a not so high MM phono input sensitivity.
Instead of tweaking the amps themselves or adding an extra active gain before the poweramp, would it make sense to use a moderate gain ( say, 5? ) step-up transformer before the phono input?
In this case, assuming an high-out MC impedance of about 160 Ohms, what would be the correct parallel resistor value for correct coupling with the 47KOhms standard MM phono input?
Thanks for reading
Best
Raffaello
