RE: Would the LL1621 work for this circuit and is it available?

I will need more info to answer your question completely. You state the desire to use lower resistance controls following the phono output stage, so I presume that you expect to reduce the output impedance using the transformer in a step down configuration? Why was the LL1621 attractive to you compared to the LL1660? I have used the LL1660PP with the 5965 in a mic preamp differential output stage and it worked extremely well.

The PP version of most Lundahl transformers have a small gap that will allow for imperfect balance.
