Thanks Mr. Davenport for the input on this. To be honest I didn't even noticed the difference (it looked strange to me though the 12V input that current feeds the DAC through the 2K resistor in the active output schematic from the datasheet but I didn't figured it out...). In fact it's the first time I encounter this type of output stage in a DAC. This radically changes my options, and it's back to studying for me...
Although the DAC I design it's modular, PCM2707 as usb input, AD1986 for asyncronus reclocking and AD1955 or AK4396 (I'll probably have both of them for a comparison) for the conversion (so I will be able to try another DAC with passive output), I want to try and design a proper tube stage for the AD1955. After I'll make some more researches I'll probably come back for... more questions :).
Oh, and thanks for the explications regarding the impendance/turns ratio. It's all more clear to me now.
