RE: AD1955 and transformer I/V stage

Hello Mr. Davenport,

thank you for the reply (I never expected to get a reply from the designer of the raleighaudio line stage). The LL9206 seems to me too the better alternative. In fact I am new to transformer coupled stages and it's quite hard for me to orientate around these designs (although I am contemplating for some time at Mr.'s Olson amp designs).

In fact that's the reason I want an active, balanced stage with a large voltage swing: For directly driving an Amity style amplifier with 6H30 as driver tubes and 45 as finals. Well this is what I hope to hapen in a near future. That doesn't mean however that I can't find a use for this kind of voltage output until then :D

The reason I mentioned the 6H30 for the dac output was because I find it better suited for this task, although it lacks the finesse of the 6n1p as you discovered. I will, however try the 6n1p too and if it prooves to cope with the task it's great.

Regarding the LL9206 (which is so cheap that it may help me to start this project earlier), to see if I understand it right: if I use it in a configuration similar to the combo input schematic (1+1:10+10) I'll get an input impendance of 10 ohms + a few more between the (+-) differential outputs and 5 ohms between one of the sides and gnd. This would be as good as I'd get, close to the "0 ohms" demanded by the datasheet.

Regards,
Florin
