on the power supply board.I got one of the "wrong" boards to compare to the Allen Wright Shunt Regulator.
From what I can see there is simply rectified and capacitor filtered DC going to the DAC board.
I would be REALLY surprised that this simple supply would outperform that BIG battery. Was there any capacitance across the terminals?
Was the battery tired?Maybe, another favorite audio "truth" is a myth. Wouldn't be the first time. Sure would make life easier!
