Erik,The math is fairly simple. If your amp requires 1 volt for maximum unclipped output and that level is more than you need for average loud listening with your speakers, then let's start there. Going backwards, that means that you need 0.1 volt (20dB of gain is 10X) at the input to your Foreplay and with 70dB more gain from the phono preamp at 1kHz, then it is clear that your Linn Troika with its 0.1mV output and the phono pre with 70dB of gain will make the 0.1V needed by your line stage with 10dB to spare. (0.1mV x 1000 (which is 60dB)= 0.1V)
Of course, these are rough calculations based on various manufacturers ratings, but the 10dB excess gain should take care of any low side assumptions.
