Alan,What you propose will work just fine, but....
As I mentioned in the reply to Daniel's post, I have found that step-up in the interstage only works sonically with a very low Rp driver tube. The real plate impedance of a 6C45 seems to be about 2.4-3K, which makes the driving impedance seen by the grid of each output tube something like 12K. I would prefer to see something less than 3000 ohms. I used a driver stage like you propose for a while in a P-P 300B amp and felt that the sound was just not pleasing enough. I changed it to the 3 stage design that I posted for a very large improvement.
