Dear Forum,
I´m considering new amplifiers for my active driven Magnepan´s (MG 3.3R) with true ribbon tweeter.
Let the regular planar´s aside, I´m intrigued by class A on the tweeters and would like your comments.
The ribbon series in question are the the later (wider type) ribbon used in the 3.5 & 3.6 models and are supposedly 3 Ohms in resistance. I have no specific information about the sensitivity though. Crossover frequency will be about 3 kHz.
How would you evaluate the requirements for this configuration ?
Would a single-ended 10 Watt class A do ? (Pass First Watts or Zen)
-or could even tube-amps be a consideration ?
What about turn on/off noise ?
(-incredible important as the tweeters are directly coupled and are fragile....!)
Your comments are very welcome.
kind regards
