The AVC doesn't invert phase.
There are two things though: the autoformers improve quite dramatically the first 100hrs and then more slowly after the next few hundred when they level off.
Second: is it possible the preamp you had before was phase inverting? Most tube pre's do that. Or maybe something else in the playback chain is inverting? The greater transparency of the AVC/TVC family allows such to be more easily heard.
