I'm not sure about the film caps you are using and the ringing issue, but in general it is true that film caps do sound much brighter than electrolytic for the first week or two. After that they settle in and give a much smoother and more transparent sound. There is also synergy between parts: electrolytic caps introduce a haze and dullness to the sound. So when we choose resistors, wires, capacitors etc., we may tend to use those that are little more forward. But if you then put film caps into the mix it might be too forward.
but in general getting rid of electrolytic is a good thing.
