Burning in a MC step up trannie

Guys,
back in the good ol' days when big T was posting he gave advice on how to run in (burn in?)a MC step up trannie. It was something about connecting the secondary to a CD output and loading the primary. Does anybody remember the exact details? I have searched but haven't been lucky.
