A friend has an older amp model Toshiba sc-330. There are two parts to the amp, a pre amp and the part I need to find out about, the power amp.
Basicaly his amp stoped working, so we took the top of. Now Im not electronicaly minded when it comes to components, but from a visual inspection of the board we saw that one of the resistors had totaly burned out, with a big split down the middle. The resistor is aprox 15mm sqaure 5mm deep and white in colour, with two wires conecting to the pcb.
There are three sets of digits on the face of the resistor reading:
MPC 71
0.47 ohm k ( horse shoe symbol which I believe is ohms )
FU 85
I have scoured the internet for a solution, and thats why Im here.
Im unsure of the wattage of the resistor or if I can get a replacement due to the age of the amplifier. ( over 20 years old ) What I have found out though, is that some people have replaced these resistors with wire wound resistors which are prone to fail. Also it appears there are different wattages for these resistors.
Is there anyway I can find out the wattage of the resistor? and also is there a suitable replacement for the damaged resistor?
If I have been misled or not understood any of the information I have found so far please tell me If Im talkin out my ass. Like I said Im new to this stuff and Im still learning :)
