First impression is very good. Nice even tone for midrange. I put them in a 4ltr closed box and was able to get room filling sound with the help of a subwoofer.I next tried them as a midrange with a JBL 123A-1 both in closed boxes. They work very well together!! I farted around with various first order combinations and like a 2.2mh on the woofer and 18uf on the Neo Fone A 3.3mh and 40uf sounded nice too. The crossovers don't match up mathmaticly but they never do.
A direct comparison with the Fostex FX120 has the Neo Fone with a more even tone but less extended in the highs and about 3db lower sens. The Neo Fone was a much better match with the 123A and some folks would like a super tweeter but some might not. I think the Neos where assembled better then the Fostex and will withstand full midbass use better.
I'll build a proper bass reflex in the weeks to come and post more impressions then. But those looking for a larg shielded center channel would be recomended to consider the JBL 123A-1 Noe Fone plus super tweeter combo. It maybe close to 2 cubic foot but it'll be hard to beat and simple to build.
