These are cheap (and plentiful in the US - the EV 12trxb coax. And they sound really good for all but headbanging levels of listening. Qts is high enough to get down to about 60hz in our room in the golden ratio open baffles, maybe more with a little tweeking of position. The GR OB take advantage of floor loading so are low and tilted upwards and require sitting >3M back. The 12trxb is no pretender - basket is cast, paper cone design from the golden age of high efficiency speakers (about 97db for these), and a pedigreed horn. You can see the whizzer is thoughfully implemented with no nasty shout. Mine are 16ohms but 8ohm version are available. Does anyone know the value of the crossover cap? It's old and rinky-dink and needs changing. The L-pad also has the typical ratty wiring and carbon/scraper pot.
For 200-250USD/pr and maybe $50 for wood for baffles you have a very SET friendly setup.
