The GOP is Dead.
If the power supply waveform isn't pretty, neither is the sound in most cases.

NY voters firmly kicked her in the teeth, rejecting her candidate despite her machinations, proving not only does Palin have a strong negative influence, but neo-conservatism just isn't going to fly anymore.

that would be the only way she could find it: is she the best presidential candidate the wreck of the GOP has?, posted on November 4, 2009 at 12:43:33

What a bloody mess of a country trying to crawl from the wreckage of the last 30 years.
Headless chicken wingers running round spreading their own shit on the walls in a dirty protest of epically North Korean proportions.
You sad people.

Butt, that is. You've gotta admit - she can be pretty decent on the eyes.

In the U.S. culture, among older white guys, that seems to count for a lot - she is the Britney Spears of the political scene for old white farts.

Too bad her head's in it..., posted on November 4, 2009 at 14:04:39

her ass that is. I really can't wait for the book, then the next round when she comes out from under the rock and starts talking again. Gotta admit she's great for a laugh.

that'll make hera candidate, but OWGs aren't that many voters, posted on November 4, 2009 at 13:44:17

and Palin and the other extremists will become nonfactors in the GOP primaries.

New Jersey is not a "Democratic" state. They probably have had as many republicans as governor..., posted on November 4, 2009 at 04:52:39

...as democrats. Their congressional reps. are also split, usually. They have close to 50% of the voters undeclared which means a large contingent of Independents. It is not a democratic state.

Thanks for the link on the governors, btw.

I went back through the last 16 presidential elections held in this country to 1948. Republicans in NJ have voted for a Republican in those elections a total of nine times, whereas they've voted for a Democrat only seven.

So, that's a ratio of 7:9 for Democrats in gubernatorial elections over that period, and a ratio of 9:7 for Republicans in presidential elections over that period.

From that, it's pretty hard for anyone to argue that New Jersey is "traditionally" anything, one way or the other.

It's swing state............I voted for a Republican rep in my district since 1982....., posted on November 4, 2009 at 17:11:08

Marge Roukema until she got screwed by her own party and retired in 2002. She had beaten the jackass in congress now twice in primaries. Scott Garrett who is a lot more conservative is using land that he and his brother own as a farm (no farming being done) to escape taxes. The right wing of the party did a number on her. Christie Whitman did the same thing when she was governor....a farm with no farming. I also voted for Clifford Case, a Republican for senator but that was a long time ago. Haven't voted for a repub since. One of the best senators we had was Bill Bradley.

Most of the power in New Jersey still resides within the consitiuency that is beholden to the Democrat party.

You have the Teachers Unions who have tremendous clout in New Jersey. Don't forget the AFSME, the FOP, all of the various Labor Unions, The populations of Newark, Jersey City, Trenton and Camden where the Democrats have a stranglehold, all of the Jewish communities of North and South Jersey.....it's just ridiculous to assert that New Jersey is independant. The voters may be registered as Independant, but the power base is Democrat.

No Dude...check out how many repub presidents that carried NJ...., posted on November 4, 2009 at 11:04:11

...Dewey, Eisenhower 2x's, Nixon 2x's, Ford, Reagan 2x's, GHW Bush

Going back to 1900...McKinley, T.Roosevelt, Taft. Charles Hughes, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover.

Check the link to see that NJ has not been a lock for any party for the governor's position.

I live in Northern Bergen County and we have had one part (repubs) for years. Our representative to congress is almost always a republican.

But why go on.....you're blinded by stereotypical idiology.

Politics of New Jersey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
New Jersey has traditionally been a political swing state, but has swung Democratic in recent decades. The Governorship has alternated between the two major parties since the election of Democrat Richard J. Hughes in 1961, with a succession of Republicans and Democrats serving as Governor. More recently, the Democrats under Jon Corzine and Richard Codey, who served as governor after the resignation of Jim McGreevey, have dominated state politics. The New Jersey Legislature has also switched hands over the years, and one house was evenly divided from 1999–2001, when the Democrats took control. Three of the last four gubernatorial elections have been close. New Jersey leans Democratic in national elections. The Congressional seats have been as evenly divided over the decades, with little change due to political trends in the state. Starting in January, 2010, New Jersey will have a Republican governor, Chris Christie.[1]

If you're going to make a point of correcting MS distortions you'll have little time for anything else.

I would hope conservatism as opposed to the GOP,is the one that would prevail. If the independent pulls off the win, that tells me that people may be getting tired of the two political parties and are willing to vote for an independent who is in more in line with their thinking as opposed to the two political parties that are now essentially the same party.
