If the Phillies can get a 5-6 run lead going into the bullpen phase of the games, they can win. If the Yankees are within 2-4 runs going into the 7th innings, they can close the gaps and take the games. They wait until the starters weaken, then pounce all over the Phillies relievers.

Phillies can't do that against the Yankees relievers. They need a 5-6 run lead before the 7th inning comes around.

Won't happen in Yankee Stadium -- not for both games.

They do not have better batting than the Phillies, posted on November 3, 2009 at 13:51:44

They have a better bullpen, yes. If they had better batting, they would have swept the Phillies.

"The Yankees had the best team batting average in the League Championship series (.279 in 6 games), while the Phillies had the worst batting average (.231 in 5 games).

The Yankees also had the pitching advantage in the LCS, the Yankees team ERA was 2.91 (1st) and the Phillies team ERA was 3.07 (2nd)."

And I'm rooting for the Phillies.

Or maybe you're just wrong with everything you post...

I wanted the Yanks to win, but would rather see it happen at home with Pettitte pitching and Rivera closing.

You have got to give props to Utley. He's had quite a series.

It's aggravating to watch them blow big leads. You could see the weird grim looks in the eyes of the fans. I sure hope Martinez can give them 6 to 7 good innings. I think we, as viewers, are lucky we don't have to watch them get croaked in front of their home crowd. Anybody out there like the Buck and McCarver tandem? I can barely stand them.

I am okay with McCarver ..., posted on November 3, 2009 at 05:37:55

He gives a lot of insight that the average spectator might not pick up on, much the way Madden does. I like that he explains strategy, rather than just calling the game.

He's horrible and he was here in Chicago for many years. I'm a Sox fan but did date a girl who is a Cub fan and so is one of my daughters. What I can't stand about these games, other than the announcers, is all the shots of both managers 10 times an inning. Show the damn players and the field, the alignment of the players. I hate national TV, same with football.

He's the worst., but Joe Buck is almost as bad., posted on November 3, 2009 at 07:51:11

Coincidence that those two were born into it? I think not. Both fathers (Skip and Jack) are/were great announcers, and Harry was as entertaining as anyone especially toward the end. These two are just terrible and can single-handily ruin a broadcast.
