It is indeed great news for Fox vs. Cable news competition, of course miniscule when compared to NBC/ABC, etc., posted on November 1, 2009 at 17:45:32

I expected a little humility after I showed you that "young people" not only use hospital emergency services, but they are the *top age group* using emergency services.

"Very few...". Yes: Broadcast news only pulls-in 4 to 5 times the viewership. It is particularly amusing the Fox is tied with Spanish-broadcast news.

There is one issue which may confuse the peasants: Cable news ratings are based upon 6 hour periods, (because the same shows are repeated).

...I'm going to explain "spinning". The OP is comparing cable new channels to one another. Danny spun off that to compare Fox news to the regular network channels. Now calm down and don't be afraid.

Mmuuuuummmmmmmyyyyyyyy!

LOL, if "spinning" is ignoring the vast vast majority of American news viewers, so be it., posted on November 2, 2009 at 07:45:32

I congratulated Fox for being #1 in "Cable" news, but it's still a drop in the bucket. Sherod, you should be embarrassed: your thrill is based upon Fox having a majority of viewers, but ABC, NBC and CBS's overall majority of viewers suddenly means nothing. No spin there.

...the differences. For one, cable news channels haven't been around nearly as long as the Big Three news channels. Also, until recently, a large viewership of the news was limited primarily to the Big Three as not everyone has/had cable to watch the cable news channels. Until the last year when digital cable became mandatory, a lot of folks still had their rabbit ears and VHF/UHF antennas to pick up only their local stations. I'm sure I'll think of other rationale, but this is sufficient for now. Some folks just like comparing apples to oranges. Is that spinning? (o:

Would be suggesting that cable numbers give an indication of news viewership, when the reality is of course that cable channels compete with the big three, and Fox loses badly there.

Does that mean EVERY channel is now a cable channel?
Back in Britain a company said they would cable the whole of Brighton (pop: 300,000) in 18 months and came in ahead of target. I was stunned!
I have cable here, the first time I have had it in Oz. Up till now I have been suing satellite and living with the weather interference.
I think cable has only recently started to carry all the free to air channels.

I don't know if they delight in it at all but also there is only one choice outside of Hollywood's mainstream death grip on our TV nation, although Australian. Some might just be fed up with Hollywood.

happy because they are ones tooting the right wing agenda even tho they profess to be more progressive. The truth finally comes out and the real wingers are in Australia and not in the US as many would be led to believe.
