Anyone have this on vinyl and if so how does it sound? I know a lot of people don't like her so to each their own. I don't have any of her music but have always liked some of what she did. I will most likely pick up a couple of her other LP's at some point but really liked what she was doing on the Quiet Nights LP. Any opinions on how this is sonically?

Live in Paris and Quiet Nights. I most likely will have them tomorrow so I'll be looking forward to something new to me.

Excellent recording. Dynamic and very quiet surfaces. "The Boy from Ipanema" cut is worth the admission price alone...

Great recording, clarity, resolution dynamics first rate. I think she is very talented. Have heard her live - she`s a class act in my opinion.

I’ve seen her a number of times, just this past summer at the Hollywood Bowl. The two best were once at the Montreal Jazz festival and once at Montreux. She tours a lot so those who like her music should really try and hear her live. I think the ORG Live in Paris really captures a live performance well.

Just buy it if you like the music. Who gives a rats ass if the rest of us like it. You are the one listening to it, not us.

I mainly wanted to know if the LP was good sonically. I just threw the if you don't like it part in there so there wouldn't be Krall bashing, have seen enough of that in the past. Everyone likes different things and artists so the question wasn't about the music but the LP quality.

I am a DK lover, but find this particular pressing not to my liking. It has a very warm, lush sound that grates on me after a couple of cuts. Sort of monochromatic without much detail from the supporting percussion in the band. Its a high quality pressing, but don't care for the "syrupy" mix. Too much production for me.

Ok, here.

I have the Verve copy here, it sounds great, I am listening to it now and have no complaints. But I also like her music.

I also have the ORG releases and they also sound great, also, no complaints.

however, I like her music.

I like her voice, very sultry, I like her piano playing and I like the musicians that she surrounds herself with. And thanks for the recommendations.

I've always loved her smoldering, sultry voice. And she plays piano well. Classy gal. Her recordings are usually demonstration-quality excellent, IMO.

Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

I haven’t heard the Verve release of Quiet Nights. If the Verve release of The Girl in the Other Room is a good example of their quality then it should be good sounding. I really like the music/songs and direction she took on Girl in the Other Room. The Classic release of From This Moment On is very well done in both pressing and sound. For me the ORG releases of Live in Paris and All For You are the absolute best releases of hers for the quality of pressing and sound and music. ORG has released 5 of her albums and I would say if you like any of the music/songs on those 5 they would definitely be the ones to get for great quality pressing and sound. I think ORG is one of those small labels that are putting out some of the best vinyl available.

I have it. I think the CD may be the better buy if you have a decent player. You get extra tracks on the CD and the sound is as good as the LP. If you intend to buy her LP's, I think "the girl in the other room" is the one to own.
Cheers,

Nick
