What do the markings 'MG'and 'OK' mean on the body of the Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge mean and are there different versions; ones with heavier metal bodies and plastic type ones?

Same "motor" inside, but the lightweight LM "low mass" or DU "Dual" versions are plasticized and still much cheaper. The LM is still a bargain. I have seen "converted" LM and DU versions, unglued from their cartridge carrying headshells, made to fit standard headshells. The blocks that position these plasticized V15s can be drilled/bored for certain self-tapping screws or machine screws, if done with care. Aftermarket styli are also cheap and worthy of a listen...

Don't forget the later V15-HE or V15-MR versions with their fragile Hyper-Elliptical and Micro-Ridge styli. These, in fine shape, are quite deluxe versions. These styli, NOS, are approaching $150. each...the MR recognizeable by the red lettering &/or red plastc stylus guard. For many, these carts are still top of the line...
