When I switch from a Valhalla to Origin Live, does it affect the bounce or is the power supply board from the Valhalla not attached to the suspension in any way?

Thanks!

I bought a 250 straight arm direct from Japan recently and had a problem with it. I had to ship it back at my cost, in the end they sent me a new arm with a complimentary tone arm cable and several headshells (although the headshell on my arm is not removable).

They took care of the problem in a timely manner and supplied me with some, as they call it, gifts. Great customer service and the arm sounds wonderful on my ROK especially with their tone arm cable.

The OL kills the Valhalla IMO. Check out my review below:

On another note: My understanding is that Origin Live is not as good as the valhalla or a Hercules. There are differing opinions on the OL, but after doing some research a few years ago, this was the consensus I found. Search this forum and Vinyl Engine to reach your own conclusion.

Enjoy!

I switched from Valhalla to the Origin Live Advanced DC Motor over two years ago and the difference was immediate. More musical, more detail, and surprisingly, it added about half an octave on the low end. I'd never go back. I've heard the OL Advanced DC motor is better than the original Lingo too.

OL Advanced DC kit installed here. Absolutely killed the Valhalla, not even close.

Cheers,

for me the OL is clearly superior to the Valhalla. It seems to be one of the kindest things you can do for an aging LP12 for around $600. I suppose there are those who complain about orgasms or chocolate cake, too...

I've not done any setups, but a lot of listening, and while I haven't heard the Hercules, my listening experience on a properly setup LP12 showed me that to my ears the OL kills the Valhalla AND the Lingo 1. And now Linn has gone to the DC motor for it's highest end model which tells me a lot. But yeah, you will hear a lot of different opinions out there, although it's not really democratic. We all hear differently I've come to think. It usually has to do with how much live music you listen to....

It's attached to a cross member below the suspension.

There's tons of info on the LP12 over at the vinylengine.com in the library section. You'll have to register before downloading.
