A Big thanks (again) to VPI for outstanding C.S.

They always e-mail me right back with tips, fixes, etc.

One year ago they repaired my goof-ups of the flywheel/motor set-up, refinished the unit, paid for shipping, supplied a new box and would not take a dime. Oh yea, my TT is close to nine years old and i bought it used.

This great customer service is nothing new from them, i can remember about fifteen years ago when i called asking about a new belt for my "19"... i believe they just sent it to me and asked me to remit a couble of dollars. Somethings never change. Yea !

I can't agree more!

I wanted to know if my 19 Mk. IV could run 78, and the Ms. replied "Of course...we have many customers running 78's". They got slow, but 3 months later after payment....I got the pulley. Was setup in minutes and now I can really enjoy Ella Fritzgearld, Billie Holiday, and Coleman Hawkins.

I had a used SDS that started going wonky. I sent it in for a check-up and since they were busy and a bit slow getting to it they just sent me a new one in return.

Does anyone know if VPI repairs older 16.5 record cleaning machines? Thanks. (nt), posted on November 5, 2009 at 16:17:04

but the machine is fairly simple and easy to repair yourself. Parts should be readily available.

It is old and noisy but it still works. I could use a new platter - my old one has a glue ridge on it under the cork mat (from the old foam mat) so I have to use my fingers to lift up the record to make contact with the vacuum tube when I flip the switch.

Anyway, it is the only VPI product I own and, given all this enormous praise for VPI customer service, I was wondering whether, at about $500-600 new, it is repairable, or disposable. I am not a DIY type and don't really like to do repairs myself.

Even brand new they are noisy. You can easily replace the platter by just removing the screws under the separate piece of cork around the spindle hole on top of the platter. Call VPI and I'm sure they would be willing to talk you through the replacement of any part/s you need. They may also be able to point you to a good dealer in your area that would repair it for you if you want to go that route instead.

I agree with everyone here.... VPI service has always been the tops for me. That is something to remember when you are considering a table made in another country with hard to get service.

I remember when a Power Line Conditioner (PLC) that came with a used TNT Mk. II gave up the ghost, and after I queried VPI about a replacement, they sent me a new one gratis. They've also been extremely responsive to queries about my JMW tonearms over the years.

Wow, that is awesome!

Happiness is a clean record, and warm tubes!

I also had a good experience with VPI customer service not too long ago...., posted on November 5, 2009 at 09:36:30

A lock ring broke on my 14-year-old Model HW-17 record cleaning machine. I wrote to them to order a new part and they sent it to me free of charge.

Thanks again VPI.

I've has similar experiences, and I know others have as well, where the product is far past its warrantee, yet VPI will step up, and make the customer whole again.

An example of mine, was about 6 years of ownership into my VPI HW-19 Jr, the Platter had cracked radially, eminating from the Spindle in about 6-7 places. It appeared on my Frosted Acrylic Platter, that the Bearing-Spindle was a press fit. Perhaps was too tight of a press fit that caused this? The Platter-Bearing was sent back to VPI per my Dealer's inquiries to them (MusicDirect), and both the Platter, and Bearing were replaced with new parts, free of charge. I've been eternally greatful for such service, they definitely won me over as a company I was happy doing business with. Mark

I totally agree with everyone's rave about the people at VPI and their Customer Service...I for one have had many a tough time dealing with my cartridge tonearm set up, but everytime, they came through and Mike is very nice to take the time to talk to me...giving me tips on how to DIY something that he sells...now that's awesome!

VPI forever!!!
