1994, Warner Bros. CD.

2009, Nonesuch LP (2), CD, mp3

Huh?

I assume that it was a digital recording, but I can't find anything on the jacket of the LP or the CD that indicates whether it was, in fact, analog or digital.

I have the original Warner CD and just got the LP/CD. I figure it should be a bit interesting to play both CDs to see if there's any difference between the two.

I planned to play the LPs today anyway, played the CD that came with the LP on the computer yesterday. It's been a long time since I'd played the Warner CD.

Pretty damned good Jazz, folks.

I posted a bit about the difference in the sound of the lp, cd (with lp), and original cd. Basically, the lp is warmer, new cd is warm yet 'digital'--to say it better---clear space between notes, and the original cd is very clean and has more highs.

Overall, I like the lp.....Brian Blade has so much slam on my VPI that I can't add much volume before the neighbors come knocking. Second, the original cd.

Now, what do we have to do to get these on vinyl:

--Keith Jarrett, La Scala
--Joe Lovano, I'm All For You

I will have to pull out my copy of Moodswing as I have not listened to it in years. I saw him in Atlanta back in the mid 1990s. Got to meet him and drummer Brian Blade, both very nice people.

I bought my copy used and it was marketed by BMG record club. Has AAD plainly marked on the back.

All Joshua Redman is ................... good.

not sure of this statement but I would find it a rarity to find a newer/recent recording that doesn't have a digital touch. And I agree JR is excellent. I haven't seen or heard any vinyl and would like to. Let us know how it sounds. Saw him in Denver about 15 years ago. Outstanding show.

Thank you, mine didn't have any marking, posted on November 4, 2009 at 11:44:10

Not the one that came with the LPs or the one I'd bought a few years ago.

I'll post about the LP sound later if I get the chance.
