my new tube amp, a VOM 1404...is lacking bass and volume in one of the channels, and I am wondering if anyone could tell me which resisters to replace to remedy that problem. the previous owner said in his listing that he replaced some resisters due to out of spec caps and that more would probably need to be replaced, also he went through a few cans of de-oxit cleaning the thing up so possibly the balance pot is messed up?..currently i listen with the balance in 4 o'clock position..! amp has new japanese caps and I have played it about 15 hours...also makes screechy sounds while I access the controls sometimes...thx for your help.

Hi-I can't afford a tube tester right now, so I don't know...there is an electronics shop in Berkeley that I may go to today to test them out.

You don't really need a tube tester. You need someone ( a good tech ) to measure the idle wattage disspation of each output tube, in the amp. You may have a bad tube or improper adjustment.

Good luck!
