I recently acquired this Dynaco SCA-80q integrated SS amp, not knowing its lousy reputation. It appears it was repaired years ago, but I am a bit astonished by the sound - very nice, even tubelike. There are 5000uf can caps in series to the speakers, but then Marantz did that in receivers. No harshness; thought it was like a Marantz 22xx (i've owned 4). This coming from someone who has owned dozens of vintage units, tubed and SS. Maybe I found an especially good one, and chanced upon a good speaker match? (small Energy spkrs). No accounting for taste. But anyway, here's a question: I have the loud popping when changing selector knob to Phono. Will changing the first capacitors from the selector to the preamp boards fix that? They are electrolytic and also (old) film. Glad for any advice, including humorous. I'm not married to this thing, but may tidy it up and use it. Peter |

I had one of these for my college system with A25 speakers. I enjoyed it when I had it but I have since moved on. John |
