 I purchased a second hand (but NIB) Mac C-36 pre amp a few months ago. I have sent several e-mails to McIntosh asking how I can purchase/acquire an owner's manual. Like my wife usually does, McIntosh is ignoring me. Is it because I didn't buy from an authorized dealer?

 If it were NIB, then it would have the owners manual in it. Sounds like you bought into a scam.

 The Berners website, http://www.berners.ch/McIntosh/en/Frame_Matrix.htm has a long list of manuals including the c-36 in the Matrix section. Unfortunately, the c-36 is not a free download; but if you send him an email, he may make it available to you.

 I needed to replace the volume pot on my MA5100 integrated. The guy I talked to at McIntosh acted like he didn't give a crap and wasn't very helpful. He basically said it was a 30 year old product & I was on my own.

Luckily, I know a great repair guy here in town, and thanks to him and Terry DeWick, we got it taken care of. Terry talked my tech through the modification necessary to make a different McIntosh replacement part work.

Terry's a great guy & I'd recommend him to anyone needing Mc service.

 If you send to a generic email address like support@mcintosh.com or something that is published on their webiste, it's guaranteed that address is going to be flooded with spam. If the company doesn't have really good filtering they may not be able to sort through it all.

We were using a sales@ address at my company for a while linked from our website. After a year, we were getting 6-10 thousand emails a day. 90-95% would get filtered but it still left way more messages than we could sift through. We finally took it down and replaced it with a contact form.

 says it was manufactured from 1992 to 1995. If it is truly "new in box", it's been sitting there for a long time. :)

 The preamp was bought new by a gentleman who collected Mac gear. He opened the box to examine the preamp, then put it in storage for later use. It had never even been plugged in. It was still wrapped in plastic when I got it.

 ...or put in a drawer or closet, never to be seen again? At this point, I really don't care. The preamp is in perfect condition with no evidence it's ever been used, except by me. It functions perfectly and sounds great. So I should lay awake at night wondering what evils might lurk?

 answering your emails but,if you have a spam blocker on your email,sometimes it sees a corporate email as spam and it may be blocking out the emails from them or,its going into your junk box possibly.At any rate,call them as they have a toll free number. They have someone to answer the phone until 430 est mon thru friday and they always return my call within the hour.

If the power supply waveform isn't pretty,neither is the sound in most cases.

 Don't take it personally. They are probably overwhelmed with spam. Best to go old school and dig out the rotary phone.

 20 years ago,I mailed McIntosh and asked for their help in obtaining info on 2 of their products from the 60s-both tube.
They sent me via airmail,at an expense of 10$-to them,both schematic diagrams for the products that I had.
