I would say fantastic, much more spatiality and 3d presentation.

More refined, pristine and real presentation.

love it !

Nice job, cjspu. I noticed no mention of any aftermarket power cords listed on your Inmate Systems page. If you still use the stock CJ power cords, you might consider that aspect of audiophile tweaking, too...

Hi, Thanks for the sugestion.

Didnt post the photos but i have changed the CJ Pr14 powercord.

In fact i had to change the position of the tranformer in order to put the power outlet.

You can see that in the photos.

Beautiful pics! cjspu

do you perform the "mods" yourself?
Audience is a very nice match for after market power cords(PC).

All the components for the CJ EV1 and CJ PR 14 cost me around 1300 USD.

Hi,

I wouldnt say mods because i keept all the previous values from CJ either with the capacitors either with the resistors.

I would say a refreshment since these components have more than 20 years...

Just looking at the photos, I cannot say whether or not I would think the sound quality has been improved, but I CAN say that you are a very neat worker. Your installation looks at least as good as that of the factory, perhaps even better. Congrats on that. Wish I was as skilled in the art.

As to your penchant for Mundorf capacitors, I do like the silver oil and the silver gold oil and their power supply polypropylenes, but I would only wonder whether using ALL Mundorfs might be too much of a good thing. However, you, not I, are the best judge of that. I think those yellow "CJ" film capacitors are re-labeled RELs, but whether they are polyprop film or metallized film or polystyrene film and foil, I cannot say. Some of those, especially if they are polystyrene, might be at least equal to or better IMO than those white Mundorfs, which I think are metallized film types. I've got a few for PS use, haven't tried them.

Hi,

Thanks for your post.

The white Mundorf are cheap polypropylene capacitor and come with a big range of values.
I used all polypropylene caps in the not critical locations- the White Mundorf ( MCAP mkp), JANTZEN Cross Caps ( CJ PR14) and Mundorf Tube cap ( CJ EV1).

On the critical locations i used Mundorf supreme silver/gold oil in the signal path of the CJ Premier 14 and in the CJ EV1 i used VCaps TFTF in the Output coupling caps bypassed by Mundorf Supreme and in the intermediate coupling also Vcaps TFTF.

Some critical resistors in the signal path of the CJ Premier 14 were changed by shinkoh tantalum resistors.

I would say that my primary reason to make these changes is the age of the caps, more than 20 years. I think modern capacitors are better than the used old ones.

At least i managed to extend the lifetime of these gear i like so much but i also had a bonus - A fantastic upgrade in the sound !

In my first post i included now fotos of the recapping of CJ Premier 12 amp monoblocks.

In the critical positions i add V-Caps CUTF 0,15uf 600 V in the coupling capacitors (audio signal - 8 units) and Mundorf Supreme 0,15 Uf 600v in the power bypass ( 12 units).

Also add some Mundorf Supreme Evo and Mundorf Mcap replacing all the other old capacitors.

A new IEC power cord was also installed, replacing the hardwired black cord.

A pure silver cable was also added to replace the cable between the RCA input and the board.

Hi,

Just made another upgrade in the Premier 14 and posted some photos above;

-Changed the input and output cables for pure silver cables;

-Changed the Mundorf Supreme Silver Gold Oil in the audio signal path for Conrad Johnson CJD Teflon capacitors.

Before this last upgrade and awswering your question, the improvement was huge. More dynamic, more detailed, better extension at frequency extremes, increased resolution and a deeper bass.

I have to wait for the break-in of the CJD Teflon before giving an opinion...
