JVC Carosel works fine otherwise, just too sensitive to vibration,
(it's not sitting on a speaker) it tends to skip on heavy bass or
kick drums. No trimpots that I can see to adjust.

The Vibrapod footer is a good brute-force-ish vibration control footer and it's low-cost. However, Herbie's Audio Lab products provide superior sonics, IME. I would suggest that you email Steve of Herbie's Audio Lab and ask him about an affordable audiophile solution:

Not feasible for a $10. value player, was just curious what the
problem is, I'm thinking it's not normal to be hyper-sensitive.

It might in fact be "normal" for a cheap player to be hyper-sensitive. No internal isolation of the transport from vibration, extremely limited digital error correction, etc.

Cheap solution 1: "Float" the player on a partially inflated bicycle innertube, hot water bottle, etc.

Cheap solution 2: apply asphalt or vinyl vibration damping pads (from Parts Express or local car stereo shop) to bottom of chassis and top of case, leaving any air vents uncovered.

The combination of these tweaks should significantly reduce the player's sensitivity to airborne and cabinet-borne vibrations.

Of course, if you're actually using 30" woofers (!) in your house, you may have some serious vibrations to isolate from!

The transport is suspended in soft rubber grommets, but it's still
sensitive. I'm just going to give it to goodwill and be done with it.

I do have the 30's, but not in use. Just cornerhorns!
