I picked up a pair of CS200W, which are passive KEF 8" subs in the shape of speaker stands. I was thinking I could use them to add bass to a bedroom rig without taking up space. They're designed for the KEF C25 which are 4-ohm speakers. Most bookshelves I look at seem to be 8 ohms. If I hooked up an 8-ohm speaker, would the crossover point go up or down? It might be the end of the world if it went up, since there are 2 subs and the speakers would be right on top.

The crossover point would go down, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, if it goes down too far, it would defeat the point of the subs. I can't find the stock xover point, but the sub's FR is rated up to 120Hz so that's probably as high as it goes. If it goes down an octave, the sub would only be covering 40-60 hz. Is it an octave, or some other factor that it changes by?

I have the 4-ohm KEF speakers, but they aren't the best in the world so I wanted the option of changing that.

I see the PSB Alphas are 6-ohm, though, so that would probably work.

It doesn't change the crossover point for the sub, it changes the crossover point for the sattelite spakers.

6 ohms is code for 'it's really a 4 ohm speaker'.
