Brimar CV4004 compared to CV4035

 Hi,

Has anyone had experience with both tubes? Is the CV4035 just the same CV4004 simply without pins? Any preference? I have read the CV4035 is a stronger tube, but as always, I would like to know from an experience point of view!

 These have the identical innards and design implemented. However, the 4035 specifies "flying leads" with thinner material than the "pins" of the 4004. Note that some 4004s have box plates while others have the half box plates.

Perhaps, the thinner leads allow tighter glass seals around the base ? This could be why you heard that the 4035s are "stronger." I cannot imagine any mounting, using the connected leads to secure the tube, that would be strong; without "holding" the tube down using some kind of clamp.

There are some resourceful folks that install tube adapter bases with pins on the 4035 tubes.

 About the box plate and half box plate. Is there any general idea/preference around them?

I thought CV4035 are CV4004s on the "cheap", but you still need to make that adapter... No idea how to do it!
