Howdy, got some amperex orange globe 6DJ8 ECC88 that are marked W. Germany. Also, they have numbers molded between the pins on the bottom. Also, the getter pan is a truncated cone or soup plate style/design. Can anyone tell me what these really are? I am guessing Siemens... thanks

I agree made by Siemens. The # inside the pin circle is a give away.

Tube makers have been placing their brand on tubes made outside the plants they own for a very long time. It was/is a matter of production schedules and customer orders. Siemens made FINE tubes. Enjoy what you possess. :>D

It would help to confirm Munich production.

If the getter looks like a saucer it is possibly Russian, Example above:

that is exactly what the getter holder looks like, pins are steel, however, and these were pulls from a vintage tek, all other 6922 are orange globe amperex, steel pins, and seamed... I should also note the printing looks just like the amperex tube printing, not at all like the printing on these.. thanks

Only Russian tubes have that flying saucer shaped getter.

GK, if it's a JPEG or BMP file all you need to do is go to UPLOAD IMAGES option at the bottom of this box. Hit BROWSE and find the image you wish to U/L in the files on your hard drive.

Or if you have a Photobucket or some such online folder of your pictures, just paste the [IMG] information onto the message box.

Definitely Russian. Amperex logo may be of recent Origin also, possibly an aftermarket job by E. Euro artists. Printing is silk screened, a bit too crisp at the edges.

These are fine tubes otherwise if you did not pay much.

I would doubt that these are recent, they came out of a tek scope I got this summer, all of the other 6922 were also amperex (holland) with very similar printing, and the bases all have numbers embossed in the glass, would russian tubes have that embossing? Since these came out of a scope that is around 40 years old, it would seem odd that someone placed some russian copies in it and leave almost a dozen excellent (for the most part) holland amperex's. Unless amperex in germany sourced these from russian sources some 40 years ago, is that possible? I did place a pair in my Cary SLI-80, and they sound pretty darn good!

Again, tubes are Russian for sure. Embossed numbers don't mean much in this case. Printing is also recent silk screen type. 40 year old printing style was very different and you should notice that difference in these and the Holland made ones.

It is possible that the scope was serviced recently.

yes, I did notice that the printing was slightly sharper on these, as opposed to the holland, not much, but a little sharper, thanks

The other dead give away is the flying saucer getter disc.

Russian
