Are there differences in the 26 and 27 tube other than filiment voltage and base? Also compare 37 and 76 tubes.

I am using 6sn7 for my input stages/phase splitter. I want to use an ST tube to match the rest. (5U4 and 6B4GPP)

Thanks

The 37 is a 6.3 volt version of the 27. The 56 is basically the same as a 27. The 76 is slightly different and has a slightly higher gain. The 6P5 is a 76 in an octal base.

All three tubes, the 27, 37 and 76 all have lower plate dissipation than the 6SN7. Typically the dissipation is 1 watt maximum for them.

I've used all these tubes and they are capable of very low distortion when biased with a 150 to 175 volts on the plate and 3 to 4 mA bias.

I know the 26 is popular, I have not used it.

Good luck.

How about the 6F8-G? It is a 6SN7-GT in an ST bottle. The only drawback is, it has a grid cap. So, you would have to rewire.

The 27, 37, 56, 76 can more or less be substituted for half a 6Sn7, although something like a 6J5 or 6P5 would have the same look and work in an octal socket.

The 26 is a directly heated tube, and not even close to a direct substitute.
