Anyone heard about this? A new tube from the old Mullard plant in Blackburn, supposed to be a plug in replacement for the 12AX7, but using planar valve technology. Versions of other tubes in the 12A_7 series are supposedly on the way. Got an enthusiastic write-up in the latest issue of Hi Fi World, and a technical write-up in AudioXpress. Not inexpensive but cheaper than some vintage NOS. Link to the manufacturer website below.

I hope that they do relaunch the company. Like Steve I should have bought 10 when I had the chance...

Myself included. They are excellent tubes, with a sound that differs from any other 12AX7 type that I've heard. I did try to order more the day right after it was announced, but it happened so abruptly and the entire system (although it appears up and going) was immediately halted.

I also hope that someone will start this facet up again, but it appears to be a long shot. All of their equipment is being auctioned off.

The whole thing is such a sad story, in so many ways.

Here's a good thread on the subject: TechTube thread at Gear Page

I wrote them a couple of emails while their contact address was still working. No response.(a day after the closure was announced)
I bought 4 but I shoulda maxed out to 10.
I'm using a pair in my phono stage with a back up pair.
I really hope that someone picks up that division and starts production again.

I heard that the management is arranging a MBO and if successful, will relaunch the company middle of next year.
