I'm resroreing a sherwood s 7700 receiver.I was given advice to convert it to star grounding. All the ps caps not the pre amp caps.
What i did was connect all the points to a a circular spade type connector.I tied this connector to all my caps with quality wire and soldered it all together.
The connector i connected to the chassis by a screw and nut.
So here's my question this screw and nut is tied to the capacitor holder.
Note i'm haveing brain freeze right now but it's the thing that holds my 820 uf electrolytic cap abobe the chassis.I forget it's proper name lol!
So is this ok ?The cap is insulated.I also soldered the nut and screw to the chassis.
Was this a ok idea?
Should i just drill a separate point to connect too?

Sounds OK to me, as long as there's no physical stress on the cap or holder. No reason to make the job harder than it needs to be.

Yep, connection to chassis is connection to chassis; at least in this context, a half inch or so this way or that way is of no matter. And in this particular example I wouldn't also connect Input Common to chassis, lest a current loop occur thru chassis due to TWO circut Common to chassis connection points. My own preferance is to make a single chassis to circut Common connection at the input vs at the power supply. And the reason is simply that it is easier to use *grounded* input jacks than chassis-isolated jacks (insulated shoulder washers required).
