Hi all,
I'm trying to clean and lube a good condition Akai GX-4000D reel to reel machine, and I notice that the pinch roller can move in and out on its shaft quite a bit (when in PLAY, the pinch roller will move and stay out all the way until the cap stops it, and the screw on cap of the 7 1/2 sleeve can leave about 1/8 in imprint on pinch roller). Does yours do that too? is it normal or mine is missing some part?

To make it clearer, this is how mine is installed: on the pinch roller shaft, there's a very thin washer (plastic/polymer?) installed inside (I guess to prevent the pinch roller sleeve from rubbing against the end of the shaft), then the pinch roller itself and then the cap screwed in to stop the pinch roller from falling out. Does this sound correct?

Also, when in PLAY, the take up reel table can make a pretty noticeable "hush" sound (if I raise tape tensiion arm/ automatic stop tension arm) to let the take up reel table run without any tape, then no noise..but if i put some tension on the reel to replicate tape tension, then to a point when the reel slows down, it will make that noise just like something is slipping....is this a problem??

Thanks a lot in advance
