I plugged my vintage Nikko NR-300 receiver up today and noticed a bright flash from inside the cabinet . It was the fuse blowing . After replacing the blown fuse now the left speaker channel doesn't produce any sound . Only the right channel will play sound . My question , is this worth fixing or should I call it a day and trash it . Anyone care to speculate on what the problem might be ? Comments appreciated . This old receiver sounds better than my new pioneer amp and I hate to see it go .

Might be just a transistor. I have an old monster Toshiba that started to crackle and become a problem in one channel (crackling and sometimes no sound). Took the lid off, found the transistor that's in the output stage of that channel and tapped it with a screwdriver. I knew I had the right one when the crackling changed. Replaced it and it's good as new. I think it cost me 85 cents.

Of course with the fuse blowing, that might indicate something else. I am by no means a technician, I just sort of followed my nose on this one. Maybe you can test the transistors with a meter.
