so bought a pair of W70's off craigslist and although i really like them, they seem to have less than snappy highs and then also some muddiness in the low mid tones. not sure if this is the speaker's characteristic sound (i'm sure part of it may be) but because i've read so much praise about these speakers, i think they should be a little better. so do i need to recap? what are the signs that a cap is going bad? i know these have no cap for the woofers but i haven't had the backs off yet so not sure what's in there. also, i've read that oil caps are the way to go. does anyone have a complete list of parts needed? will all the old caps be marked so i will know exactly what to get? the speakers aren't pretty but the drivers are all in what appear to be perfect shape despite the fact that the front cloth is long gone. hmm, listening now to serge gainsbourg's reggae album and this really sounds great although there is still the slight low muddiness. oh, and driving them with a NAD 7240 receiver (40 watts.) thathanks for any help.... and the pics: ![]() the pretty one ![]() the evil twin ![]() and the infamous super 3 tweeter, which i kinda expect more from....
