There are several stands...sometimes reviewers say you must have THIS stand. But why? What makes that stand OK but not a different high dollar, or low dollar, stand just as good?

For that matter, if I need to put my ProAc 1SC 30" high, why will sound be worse if I use a little pyramid of cinder blocks, with three on the bottom, two on top, then one laid sideways across them for the speaker to sit on? That has FAR more mass then a Target or Sound Anchor filled with sand.

So what's with this?

Jim

Stands are funny it's not as much about mass as how the stands interacts with the resonance's of the speakers cabinet.. If you want reasonably priced good sounding stands give the Skylans Stands a try. Also height is critical, tweeter should be at ear level ( when seated) or a smidgen higher.
