Hi, I listened to these in my home setup, I think I am going to buy them.

Sound is warm but with nice clear hights, 3-D, realistic sounds, fine voices, lots of air around instruments/voices, nice stable soundstage.
I mostly listen to (Rock)Jazzy sounds and pop/rock history on CD and TT.

Anybody with Emeraude experiences?
Maybe comments in relation to other JMR's? Thx

They are the smoothest sounding of the Reynauds - not the most resolving, not the fastest, not the most earth shaking or sky bending. They remind me a little of Spendors with more of everything that Spendors are good at. Their predecessors, the Evolution 3's, were among the most popular Reynauds ever made. They were floor-standing versions of the Trentes, another extremely popular JMR model. Glad you like them.

Hello Mr Neill, thank you for your reaction.
I read a lot of your comments here on the Asylum about JMR speakers.
You made a reference to the older Evo3, but I am really new to JMR.

I did hear the Duet/Bliss on open stands and the Emeraudes at the dealers with the same setup. I did like the Emeraudes better there.
So after that I only tried the Emeraudes at home.

Could you also, please, make another comment here and now as a reference to the Cantabile Sig and the Orféo mk2?
Do you have a clue about an update of the Emeraude in 2010? Thx

If you go to my website (www.amherstaudio.com) you can read what I say there at some length. I could repeat it all here since the Bored may not like my referring you to my site, but to save time I'll risk it.

But...In a summary word, the Cantabile Sigs are deceptively lighter sounding than the Emeraudes and are accordingly very receptive to SET's and the like. There will be a Cantabile Supreme sometime in early 2010.

JMR would be happy that you prefer the $5495 (US) Emeraudes to the $1895 (US) Duets/Blisses. More costly isn't always better but it is generally different. The Emeraudes are smoother and more wide-ranging, but the Duets/Blisses have an expressiveness and immediacy that a lot of folks like. A poor man's Offrandes.

The Orfeo II is an Orfeo I with a revised crossover. I like them the way they are but Jean Claude (son of Jean Marie) says the Mk II is "more expressive and delicate, richer in tone, more open in the mid range, with beautiful imaging and closer to the Concorde Signature in terms of tonal richness. It is now really like having an Offrande Supreme with more body but with the same quality of musicality and emotion…" I won't know what to make of that 'til my new crossovers arrive and I get my techy to make the switch. I would say offhand that's a lot to expect from a change in crossover, but who knows? The Reynauds are geniuses. I do remember a crossover change in the Linn Sara made quite a difference but nothing on the scale JCR describes. And for those with Orfeo I's who are anxious, I'm confident you'll be able to obtain the new crossovers (with schematics). Email me for pricing to remind me to ask the Reynauds.

If these words and my site descriptions aren't sufficient, email me and I'll elaborate further.

I understand now, that I am buying "no meat nor fish", JMR-soundwise ;-)
Well anyway, my Cyrusgear seems to combine well with the Emeraudes.
Thanks a lot for your comments here, Mr Neill.
