Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can protect my wood floor from being marred by my speaker spikes?

i spent about $20 on Home Depot's board chunks of maple that i put under the speakers. They also cut it to correct dimensions.

Plus it makes it much easier to adjust placement.

Prior to the boards I had quarter size discs that would occassionally slip out from under the spikes when I tried to make adjustments.

These spike discs are very affordable..., posted on November 3, 2009 at 07:18:34

The link at the bottom is for discs that are $2.00 per disc.

If you want something more "upscale", the Audio Points brass discs can be found here:

I isolate my speakers/spikes from floor by placing slabs of Granite-quarry stone down first. It also helps with bass by decoupling from the floor.

I use the big fat dots under my speakers on a hardwood floor.

...quality coupling disc than the smaller sized Yung coupling discs. I found the low-cost Audiogon sourced product to be a rather fine option if more specified coupling discs such as those available from Audio Points, Herbie's Audio Lab, etc. are not required/desired.

3-4 fender washers per spike, however many required so when you set a spike on a pile of them the spike does not touch the floor. glued them together with appropriate bonder (jb weld) and tacked a felt chair pad on the bottom (peel off for the sticky side). i spray pinted them black before i stuck on the bottom pad. The pads even make it easy to push them around the floor for positioning.

Assuming you can't remove the spikes, one way would be to place something between the floor and the spikes such as thick rubber. I use to work for an industrial supplier that catered to the stamping industry. I have some thick (1" and 1.5") rubber 'sheets' in the basement I have cut and used for various thinks (like a motor mount). These come in large sheets and can be cut to order. Such companies will also have urethane 'Springs' that are cylinders of urethane with a core taken out. These come in various densities and colors. If you live anywhere near an metropolitan area I'm sure there are a few stampers and their suppliers.

You always can place a penny under each spike.
