I would like to inform you about a serious problem I am having with singlepower audio and its owner Mikhail Rotenberg. I have purchased a maestro zr preamp from a previous owner on head-fi , in march 2008. Once I received and tested the unit , I contacted Mikhail Rotenberg at singlepower audio to correct and improve the unit. I sent the unit to Mikhail Rotenberg along with 4200$ in march 2008. The work was to take 3 to 4 weeks to complete.
As of today, I have not received the unit. Mikhail Rotenberg will not return phone calls. He takes a week to return an email and provides a new date for completion that is never respected . I am now positive I will not be returned the money or the unit ever. I have made several attempt at solving this situation. I am looking at a loss of 6500$ in total.
The reason I am writing to you about this is that I read about Singlepower and its owner on your web site. I understand that you are a forum and not watchdogs ,but if this company is not reliable and honest , then readers of your site should be made aware of that fact to avoid further problems. I do not expect you to take my word for it ... please contact Mikhail Rotenberg and verify this information.
Please let me know your views on this, sincerly,

too bad if you're having a problem, but I suggest you take it somewhere designed to be a consumer fixit site or seek normal remedies. Sounds like you willingly sent the amp and the money away....

I'm not a fan of how Mikhail does business but I wouldn't give up hope. I paid in advance($6,500) and after 6 months of poor email response and adjusted arrival dates I gave up, asked for my money back and although it took a while and he tried to talk me out of it, I did get the refund. I had also sent a pair of expensive headphones to him for a mod and I also gave up on those and asked for them back and it took forever before they finally arrived. HOWEVER...he didn't even charge me for return shipping. One day they just showed up at my door. My point is...I just think he's REALLY bad with budgeting his time. I mean, REALLY, REALLY B-A-D! I won't do business with him again but I definitely don't think he's a thief.

Also, he makes his living building his headphone amps and head-fi probably accounts for (guessing) 90% of his business. He's not going to start stealing and ruin that.

I don't blame you for being angry, but don't give up hope.

As a former long time head-fi member i've always wondered why people are buying this amateur crap? Newbies are gullible, i guess...

Anyway this will not really help you but you may be interested to check the "head-case.org" forum, there's a thread called "There's something wrong in Colorado..." in the headphone amp sub-forum, you will see that unfortunately you're not alone having problem with this Joker.

Good luck!

I checked out the link another poster suggested "Something wrong in Colorado..." and after reading about the failures of not only delivery on the amps but the amps themselves I suggest doing an immediate chargeback on your credit card or paypal account.

Link it below. Read through to at least page 3 and pay special attention to kevin gilmore's posts.
