 What wiring do you use for signal input from RCA jacks to first input amp tube. Can I use a multi input RCA jacks with a Centralab selector switch. This JX series switch has 15 amp rated button contacts on a 2-1/2 inch ceramic form. I can use two sections if stereo wiring isolation is needed with more than 1/2 inch spacing.

 If you are looking for soft silver solid core wire, you can't beat the prices at Handmade Electronics. They've carried this stuff for years and it's great quality. I'm not affiliated, but I am a customer.

Hi,

I use about 24 AWG silver wire, doubled up ( in parallel ) and certainly no longer than TWO inches of lead length from the " hot " tip of the RCA jack ( Vampire, the good ones from Percy ) to the grid of the amp's input tube. Wonder Solder ( Percy ).

There is no way you can add length, or a lesser wire type, or worst of all a switch, to your amp's design. With what you proposed, the amp lost all chance of great fidelity, before the signal even got to the grid of the input tube.

PS, I added close up, a progress-photo during my recent build - taken Nov 26, 2016. Note the orange colored outer insulation leads, going from RCA jack "hot", to the grid of my "nearby" input tube ( doubled up orange insulation ). That is my "hot" run, input jack to input tube's grid.

The Direct couple, from the driver stage to the JJ 2A3-40, is clearly seen also, three lightly twisted about 18 or 19 AWG uninsulated silver wires, plate of the driver tube to the grid of the 2A3. You can not beat a direct couple sonically, many many advantages.

Please look on the Serious Stereo web site, amp section, as to where Dennis Fraker places his RCA jack, in relationship to his driver tube. Much of what I do lately, I learned from Dennis.

 BTW- The wire is silver plated copper or solid silver?

 Don't know what Jeff is using, but I can
comment here....

There are many wires you can use for critical points
in amp wiring, I'll just give you the best... why waste
your time?

Silver-plated copper never works, but Wonderwire does. It's
what is used on Dynamicap leadouts. It's good, but not THE best.

Kimber AGSS (silver multistrand) is always a "go to" when nothing else is around. Their PTFE is excellent-- you can leave it on the wire---.

It's good enough that it won't degrade your efforts-- it is neutral,
sounds really solid and is dynamically efficient.

Siltech has always made the best silver/gold alloy wire-- we used to buy old
interconnects of theirs, and grab the wire inside them. GREAT stuff, of course, but now the Chinese are "copying" Siltech. Is this stuff any good? (found all-over E-Bay). NO!!!!!!!.

Failing that, Cardas bare, single solid silver hookup wire is excellent-- but I never use this singly-- it gets twisted together in 2's and 3's to get lots of,dynamics, and a wide bandwidth.

Silver Sonics has some similar solid silver wire that is PTFE jacketed.
I strip this off (DO NOT scratch or nick the silver!!!! If you do that,
it's just like scratching a L.P. record-- you won't like it....). in order to get the better performance of bare wire.

Just a few ideas-- have fun!
